Without a doubt, Pittsburgh can be called the City of Bridges. It has the most bridges in the world, beating Venice, Italy. Everyday, on foot or by car, thousands of people cross the bridges of Pittsburgh and don’t even think about the novelty of being in this city. Many people, from all over the world, would consider the 446 bridges as a reason to visit. Ancient bridges, restored bridges, rusted or demolished bridges all help Pittsburgh to maintain its title. This is the goal of PittBridges: to give people everywhere in the world a little history about the bridges we Pittsburgh-ers see everyday.
My name is Eddie Silva, and I’m currently writing a book about creating content with mobile devices. Due to advances in technology, anyone can create, write, take pictures and even shoot movies with great quality to display on blogs, websites, DVDs and even TV. For the book to have credibility I decided to film a documentary using only an iPhone.
Some may think that a documentary shot with an iPhone would not have sufficient quality to draw public attention. But because of the technology available in this device, you can shoot with quality (HD) 1080p, which a few years ago was only possible with expensive equipment. I’m sure many will appreciate the documentary because of its image quality which will draw the attention of the media and the film festivals.
What We Need & What You Get
To do something with professional quality, even using only an iPhone, there is the need for money to cover costs of editing, voice over, the cover of the DVD creation, editing and DVD burning and all costs for registration and submission of documentary to the various festivals around the world and advertising. Much (60%) of the documentary has been filmed, missing only some interviews that I intend to finish in January 2014. To cover all these expenses and to do something that people can be proud of having participated in through contributions, I would have to gather $10,000. But with $4,500 I might have enough for the project completion and the rest I will try to raise through advertising on the site and sales of DVDs. If you can contribute, click on Donate at the top of the page. Even a donation as modest as $12 will be acknowledged with a thank you gift. In addition to the “Perks for your Contribution” listed on that page, what you get by contributing is the opportunity to show the world that anyone with ideas and a mobile device can have a voice and create content. And especially, the chance encourage our youth to be creative, and not just use the phone for messaging.
